Education and Qualifications:
Leo Cortez knows tuition for college is rising at an alarming rate for both public and private schools. Community college has become the higher education choice for many students who desire a better future.

The San Jose Evergreen Community College is in danger of losing its accreditation after being warned by The Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges. The commission said the district must address its problems within two years. We are on the clock.

Leo Cortez is a product of the community college system. He has a Masters Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University, is a former history teacher and he served as Vice Principal in the Franklin-McKinley School District.

Leo Cortez has the experience necessary to fix the financial, planning and governance problems that must be addressed to assure our community college district remains a viable option for our students.

Leo Cortez will provide strong fiscal leadership and work with all stakeholders to provide a viable infrastructure for the 21st century. He will insure that Measure G funds passed by voters in 2010 are spent efficiently and transparently.
