Smart Voter Official Statement for Marc Berman

Council Member; City of Palo Alto

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Attorney
Age: 31
Education and Qualifications:
Infrastructure Blue Ribbon Commissioner; Yes on Measure A Campaign Committee (PAUSD Funding Measure); J.D., USC Law School; B.A., Georgetown University; Palo Alto Unified School District graduate.

Palo Alto is a diverse, dynamic and innovative community and I loved growing up here. We value both our close-knit neighborhoods and our cutting edge companies.

To move Palo Alto forward, we need strong leadership focused on laying the groundwork for the future. Growing up in Palo Alto, serving on the Infrastructure Commission, working as an attorney helping businesses grow and succeed and volunteering with many community organizations make me uniquely qualified to: 1) Lead the effort to invest efficiently in Palo Alto's infrastructure, preserving the unique character of our neighborhoods while preparing Palo Alto for future generations; 2) Work with staff to improve outreach to local businesses and retain the great companies that define Palo Alto; 3) Find new solution to improve Palo Alto's short and long-term fiscal stability; and 4) Engage Palo Alto's youth to facilitate understanding, acceptance and utilization of available mental health services.

Palo Alto didn't become a world-class community by accident and won't remain one through inertia. There has never been a more important time for fresh leadership and new ideas to keep Palo Alto moving forward. Visit http://www.voteberman.com for more information.
