This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: President, Foothill-De Anza Board of Trustees
Education and Qualifications:
I was appointed to the FHDA Board of Trustees in August 2009. I am motivated by the mission of community colleges to provide broad access for university preparation, career training, and life-long learning. I have been inspired by the dedicated students, faculty, and staff at Foothill and De Anza and I am committed to using dwindling resources in the most effective way to support student success.

Since I have been on the Board of Trustees we have:

Improved instructional technology and on-line learning

Protected student access and opportunity

Implemented drastic budget cuts but preserved program quality

Modified healthcare benefits to get millions of dollars in savings

Installed solar panels saving energy and dollars

Foothill and De Anza colleges were re-accredited in 2011 and both received very high grades. The De Anza accreditation report commended the Board of Trustees for "Clear understanding of its role as trustees, as exemplified by the Board Philosophy and Mission Statement, and for its commitment to student-centered leadership and decision-making." I am committed to continuing this record of excellence.
