Partnering with our Local Schools

By Gregory Gandrud

Candidate for Council Member; City of Carpinteria

This information is provided by the candidate
Our City Council must make partnering with our local schools a top priority. Our children are our future and we must give them the best education possible so that they can compete in the global economy.
Some people would say that the city council has nothing to do with education, that education is the responsibility of the school board. I strongly disagree.

The city council has a very strong influence on our entire community. Our entire community can help our children to succeed by building vital community partnerships to support education. Together, we can create a more vital local economy so that more resources can be provided for our children's future. With a vital local economy, there will be opportunities for students to find meaningful part-time work and internships that are relevant to their fields of study.

Wealth starts with dreams. Sometimes, government over-regulation can turn those dreams into nightmares. We must empower our local "mom & pop" entrepreneurs to succeed.

Educational success will be built on partnerships and collaborations with families, schools, early childhood education, government, the business community, nonprofit and service organizations, foundations and other funders.

Like it or not, our children will be competing in a global economy. Together, we can and must give our children the skills they need to succeed.

Please join me in working together with all of our educational partners.
