The San Juan Unified School District has had a proud tradition of powerful instruction programs that support success for students throughout the grades. Teachers, administrators, and classified employees are highly skilled and dedicated to the belief that ALL students can and will learn in our classrooms. Current leaders have built on that solid foundation and further strengthened teaching and learning through focused strategies guided by the Strategic Plan.

My goals as a Board Member include:

  • Support the strong academic work in balanced literacy and disciplinary literacy
  • Support the San Juan Strategic Plan
  • Prepare ALL our students for college, work, and life in the 21st Century
  • Support equity and diversity professional development for staff
  • Ensure that character education, bullying prevention, and conflict resolution programs are available for students
  • Be an active listener for our parents, students, teachers, administrators, classified employees, and community
  • Ensure that assessment data is used to guide instruction and inform parents, students, and teachers of long term evidence of individual progress
  • Support our Early Childhood Education programs so the preschool programs provide a seamless transition to kindergarten
  • Continue afterschool programs that enrich, extend, and support students at all ages
  • Ensure that the arts are supported even in difficult financial times
  • Protect our valuable taxpayer dollars and make certain they stay where they belong, in the classroom
  • Support Measure N, the bond initiative
  • Be an advocate for public education
