Running for Moreno Valley City Councilman, District 5

I am Alonzo "Lonnie" Cooks. I am running for the seat of Council member for District #5 my wife; Jackie and I came to Moreno Valley from Santa Ana, Ca. in October of 1985. We have been living in this district for 7 years and we have been volunteering in this district since 2005. We have come to love our neighborhood and our neighbors.

I have in the recent past begun too see that this District 5 needed a Representative that was more in touch with the needs of its constituents and not cocooned in a City Hall office. When it was suggested to me that I could create change from the inside better than the outside I decided to take the ball and run with it. It is with a great sense of privilege and honor that I submitted my name as a candidate for this office. From fiscal responsibility to creating a business friendly atmosphere that will create new jobs for our city I am setting forth a plan and desire to work hard for the people of District 5 and Moreno Valley as a whole.

We have seen tremendous growth in Moreno Valley, yet our district has been dealt a cruel hand. It is my desire to not only help to bring positive change to District 5, but for the whole community. When one part of the city hurts, the whole city hurts! I want to help heal this city!

We NEED High-Tech jobs that will enrich the city, help lower taxes, bring back laid off police and fire personnel, and not only stabilized our schools, but to bring them all into the 21st. Century making all our schools the leaders in the Inland Empire!
