Continue to expand educational opportunities

By Michael H. Simons

Candidate for Board Member; Huntington Beach Union High School District; 4 Year Full Term

This information is provided by the candidate
Increasing focus on College and Career Readiness is important for our students
The District needs to provide our students with the ability to be successful following graduation whether they go on to college or into a career. This can be accomplished through the continual monitoring and evaluation of educational programs and the infusion of current technology.

Focused programming can be accomplished through the District's Strategic Plan which was just updated with the input from students, faculty, classified staff, administration and Board.

It is imperative to hire and retain top quality teachers and support staff.

Current state of the art technology in every classroom has been provided for students and staff.

Improved student performance can be monitored through the continual evaluation of District assessment tolls and test scores. Currently all our high schools are either near or highly over the benchmark 800 API target.
