Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Josh McIntosh

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Garden Grove

This information is provided by the candidate

My name is Josh McIntosh, I'm a 4th generation Garden Grove resident, homeowner and small business owner.

I am active volunteer in several non-profits in the Grove, our Historic Society, the Downtown Main Street Business Association, our GG High School Alumni and most recently for the Village of Garden Grove. I have a very strong sense of community pride and I want nothing but the best for our city in the future. This is why I want to be on the City Council.

I'm not for sale. I don't owe favors to any development companies or special interest groups. The residents of Garden Grove have been ignored by our so-called representatives for too long. The developers have taken over city hall and this corruption has got to stop.

If elected I will make sure that we are doing business ethically and fairly in our city. I'll make sure that the most qualified companies are getting our city contracts and not just the most connected.

I think we need to concentrate on attracting companies to open businesses here but without having to bulldoze more structures or displace people from their homes. We have too many vacant stores already; let's fill them up before we start building something we can't finish.

We need to make sure that we are supporting our local businesses as best we can no matter if they donated to our campaigns or not. This council has fought very hard for their pet projects on Harbor Blvd, it's time to help out the rest of the businesses in Garden Grove.

I would like the city to implement Community Benefit Agreements, or CBA's. These are project-specific contracts made between the developers and a group of residents, who work together to negotiate the details of our upcoming projects so that both the residents and the developers will benefit.

We can clean up Harbor Blvd all we want but if we still have corrupt politicians taking directions from development companies, we'll never lose the name Garbage Grove. Right now we've got the best politicians that money can buy and it's time for a change. Let's clean up city hall. My name is Josh McIntosh and I want to be your elected representative on the council.
