Public Safety

By Jerry McCloskey

Candidate for Council Member; City of Laguna Niguel

This information is provided by the candidate
I will work to maintain Laguna Niguel as one of the safest cities in California.
Laguna Niguel did not attain its position as one of the safest cities in California by default; it took concentrated attention to policing, community outreach and by the City Council. I have personally maintained close ties with local law enforcement and would continue to do so if elected. I would communicate with the citizens of the city as to how they can help keeping Laguna Niguel safe by emphasizing communication channels to make it easy to contact law enforcement or the city with their concerns. I am supportive of effective traffic safety and control of speeding and traffic signal violations.I do not favor cameras at intersections, however. As a councilman I would support periodic checks on key performance measures and keep our citizens informed on how well we are doing in maintaining our great safety record. I would maintain a close liason with the Sheriff's office to ensure that Laguna Niguel is served always at the highest level.
