My Candidate's Statement

Candidate for Council Member; City of Laguna Hills

I'm Dr. Raghu Mathur and as your Councilman I will advance this important agenda:
  • Establish civility, transparency, accountability and ethical behavior in city government;
  • Increase public safety by restoring two previously-cut sheriff's positions;
  • Reestablish top city officials' compensation to sustainable and rational levels ;
  • Require city employees to pay their fair share of pension contributions;
  • Create business retention and development plans to grow jobs and city revenues;
  • Provide citizen-involvement opportunities for financial oversight, community planning, and seniors, youth and animal care programs;
  • Oppose any tax increases.

In my 32-year Laguna Hills residency, I've served as the President of Irvine Valley College, Chancellor of the South Orange County Community College District and Trustee of the Saddleback Valley Unified School District. I've prudently managed annual budgets of approximately a half billion dollars. Graduating from university with honors and triple majors at age 18, I've been a life-long educator. As President of the Laguna Hills Homeowners' Association, I helped develop our first parks and prepare our community for cityhood.

I promise to serve you with utmost diligence, honesty and integrity. I respectfully seek your vote for Laguna Hills City Council.
