My description of this job is to protect the ratepayers of this district by exercising OVERSIGHT, both financial and operational, over the South Coast Water District general manager and his or her staff.We don't have to read many editions of the Wall Street Journal to discover that up and down our state there are example after example (Stockton, Vallejo, San Bernardino) of a failure of elected officials to exercise the necessary OVERSIGHT they were elected to provide. I believe that I'm uniquely qualified to do this for our district based upon my employment at the district in a senior managerial position. While I was there, I was able to reduce financial costs, and my involvement in virtually every financial aspect of the district enables me to "hit the bricks running" on my first day as a publicly elected director. I'm very familiar with the staff, having worked alongside them for several years. I enjoy the support of many district employees. If you will honor me with your vote, I will work very hard to provide the necessary oversight needed in order to keep our water and sewer rates at the appropriate fiscally conservative levels. Additionally, I'll seek complete transparency of all district governance issues. Vote for the "Water WatchDog" on November 6th! Water is our most precious resource ... Every drop counts and every dollar counts. |
