Why I Am Running for Huntington Beach City Council

By Jim Katapodis

Candidate for Council Member; City of Huntington Beach

Why Jim Katapodis is running for Huntington Beach City Council and what he will do when he is elected.
I love living in Huntington Beach and have been a proud resident of Surf City since 1990. I have a deep connection with this city and want to see it grow and prosper. Other cities are struggling to meet their budget needs and are now under bankruptcy protection. I will work hard to ensure that Huntington Beach operates on a balanced budget. One way of achieving this is through pension reform. I will make sure a fair and equitable bargaining agreement between the city and its employees is reached within a short period of time.

Public Safety is my number one goal. I want to keep Huntington Beach a safe place to live, work, and play. Without a strong public safety policy, the quality of life in Huntington Beach will diminish exponentially, resulting in a decline in property values. Tourists, one of our main sources of revenue, will go to some other destinations where they will feel safe and secure. Good citizens will move out to other cities where their families and properties will not be put at risk. I will work hard to make Huntington Beach the city with the best public safety record.

Progress is a must to sustain our community. But we must avoid the pitfalls of growing too fast. Controlled growth should occur with an eye on intelligent and effective use of open spaces. I will streamline business start-ups, both large and small, to revitalize our business community.

With your vote, we can make what's best for Huntington Beach happen. Elect Jim Katapodis, for City Council!
