By being fiscally responsible the HBUHSD has been able to maintain a full 180 day school year while surrounding districts have had to implement furlough days.
Working with my colleagues, the Board of Trustees of the Huntington Beach Union High School District, I have placed an emphasis on fiscal responsibility and transparent governance. During the 2011-2012 school year the Board of Trustees was able to accomplish the following fiscally responsible highlights:

  • Maintained financial stability and cash flow without substantial budget cuts or salary reductions
  • Maintained a full 180 day school year for students
  • Maintained a 3% reserve
  • Provided budget transparency and communicated the most current information to PTSA and community
  • Implemented and installed energy saving measures throughout the District
