We Deserve Better

By Jim Gardner

Candidate for Council Member; City of Lake Forest

Almost every other city has more and better services than we have.
Almost every other city in Southern California has more and better services than we have. Take a look -

Every single one of our neighboring cities has a stand alone full service senior center. Some cities (e.g., Irvine) even have 2 centers. We have the part time use of a room a few times a week.

Lake Forest doesn't have our own dog park. Nearly half the cities in Orange County have their own park. 8 cities with fewer people than Lake Forest nonetheless have a dog park. Here's a list +

  • Laguna Woods (18,371)
  • Ladera Ranch (21,250)
  • Laguna Beach (23,727)
  • Seal Beach (25,334)
  • RSM (49,249)
  • San Clemente (65,338)
  • Laguna Niguel (66,126)
  • Buena Park (78,282)

Lake Forest doesn't have access to a local no-kill animal shelter. Here's a list of neighboring cities that do -

  • Laguna Woods
  • Mission Viejo
  • Laguna Beach
  • Costa Mesa
  • Irvine
  • San Clemente
  • Laguna Niguel
  • Aliso Viejo

Virtually every one of the high schools in our neighboring cities has a stadium where the sports teams play. We are the only one that does have a home stadium.

Why does traffic flow so smoothly in our neighboring cities and so slowly in our city. Because neighbors like Mission Viejo and Irvine have synchronized traffic signals.
