Before I ask for your support, I want you to know a bit more about why leaders in our city and the field of education support my candidacy for Irvine School Board. As the Finance Commissioner for the City of Irvine for the last 7 years (currently serving as chair), I've lead the process for and substance of critical recommendations made by the Commission to the City Council regarding Irvine's nearly $150 million budget. I understand finances and what it takes to get an organization as large as our City and the Irvine Unified School District through difficult and uncertain financial times.

I also teach graduate-level courses at USC's Rossier School of Education. I ensure that tomorrow's educators receive a top-quality education from one of the nation's best universities for teacher preparation. I have also taught graduate level courses at Cal State Fullerton where I prepared tomorrow's school leaders with courses in Governance and Law and Public School Finance. I continue to read and present research on what works in school leadership and student achievement.

My education is also most suitable for a position as a School Board Member. After completing my undergraduate degree from UCLA, I obtained my Master's in Education from Pepperdine University and then my Doctorate from UCLA's Educational Leadership Program. In completing my administrative services credential, I had the opportunity to interact with students and educators in Thailand. That, along with my experience teaching overseas right after college, has given me a global understanding of education and the needs of our diverse community here in Irvine.

These are just a few of the qualifications that I believe make me the ideal candidate for Irvine School Board. I hope I can count on your support on Election Day. Elections like this cannot be won without the financial and vocal support of friends like you. I look forward to working together with you and our community to help Irvine's Schools "Grow Smart!"
