My Six Point Platform:

  • Create Jobs and Strengthen Economic Development
  • Maintain Public Safety
  • Protect Neighborhoods
  • Improve Transportation Flow and Infrastructure
  • Protect our Public Utilities and Keep Rates Low
  • Build on Education Success

Here are the details:

Create Jobs and Strengthen Economic Development

Support of businesses and job growth is how we keep our city prosperous. Anaheim needs to hold the line on city spending, while developing initiatives that will grow jobs and strengthen our local economy, including:

  • Lessen and eliminate barriers to private capital investment.
  • Keep utility rates among the lowest in the region.
  • Support our business community's ability to maximize Enterprise Zone designation benefits.
  • Complete the development of the Platinum Triangle and ARTIC.
  • Continue the renewal of downtown and west Anaheim business corridors.

Maintain Public Safety

Public safety is the first priority of local government. Effective public safety services ensure the strength of our neighborhoods and business sectors. I support building on our investment in the police and fire departments and being innovative at every opportunity to provide more efficient services.

Protect Neighborhoods

Anaheim needs an effective voice for neighborhoods. Zoning and development plans must enhance our existing residential and business communities. Our neighborhoods must be kept safe and clean.

Improve Transportation Flow and Infrastructure

Maintenance and upgrading our current infrastructure is essential. I support improved mobility through developing better transportation flow. It is imperative that we continue to improve parks, roads, sidewalks and utilities.

Protect our Public Utilities and Keep Rates Low

As your Utilities Board Chairman, I am committed to the undergrounding of electric utilities. I pledge to keep our rates affordable, ensure that our water is safe & clean, and never sell our utilities to any for-profit company.

Build on Education Success

Our schools need a committed city partner. As a School Board Trustee, I successfully worked to rebuild the relationship between our school district, city hall and the business community. I will continue to build on that success on the city council. We must support our schools so that they can give all students a quality education that is second to none and partner with them to provide enhanced afterschool and extracurricular initiatives that will keep our kids safe and productive.

Major Anaheim Union High School District (AUHSD) accomplishments during my tenure:

  • In less than 10 years, AUHSD Academic Performance has grown 112 points, the second-highest gain in Orange County.
  • Approved five straight balanced budgets.
  • Oxford Academy became the number one school in California.
  • Achieved California Distinguished schools status and national acclaim at our schools.
  • AUHSD is the first district in California to defer developer impact fees for residential development - creating jobs and helping local businesses.

  • Graduated the largest number of students in Orange County in 2012 - approximately 4,700 seniors.
  • AUHSD's flag ship school, Anaheim High School, has improved their State Academic Performance Index achievement by 230 points in the last decade.

  • First district in Orange County to allow students to earn the State Seal of Biliteracy - a priority for the Chambers of Commerce. Hundreds of seniors each year are earning the Seal of Biliteracy for attaining a high level of proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages in addition to English.
