Sausalito is ready for change on its City Council and November 6 will give us that change.

Sausalito is the vibrant, unique small town that we all love and want to preserve and have flourish. We have amazing natural resources, dedicated residents and a solid city government. City Council's job is to lead our community in preserving, enhancing and enjoying Sausalito's natural gifts, not drive us apart. I am committed to providing the constructive, balanced leadership needed to bring us together.

As a member of the Sausalito's Historic Landmarks Board for four years and as its Chair for two of those years, I provided such leadership. During my Board tenure we protected Sausalito's historic character while at the same time provided guidance and assistance to businesses and homeowners in maintaining and enhancing their properties. We understood and respected the values of both historic preservation and the property concerns of homeowners and businesses. An enduring achievement of our Board's work was the creation of the Historic Design Guidelines which provide specific guidelines for protecting our architectural heritage during the building process.

In my professional career as Vice President Legal for a major high tech corporation and as a member of boards for nonprofit civic organizations, I often worked to bring together disparate groups to reach solutions that benefited everyone. It is this experience that has provided me the skills to deal with complex issues in a professional and congenial manner. My professional background and training has also provided me the legal, business, finance and negotiating skills that I will bring to the complex issues that face our town.

The values I will be bring to my service on the City Council are:

  • respect for others and their opinions;
  • a positive can-do approach;
  • commitment to the truth;
  • consensus building and fairness;

City Hall's purpose is to be responsive to and serve the entire community.

If elected, I promise not to lose sight of this goal.
