Smart Voter Official Statement for Parker Colvin

Candidate for
Board Member; Moraga School District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

My name is: Parker Colvin

My age is: 33

My occupation is: California Underwriter for Public Finance Investment Banking Firm

Education and Qualifications:

Like many of you, my family and I moved to Moraga for the excellent public schools and supportive community. However, the years of cuts to K-12 education funding in California have proven that even the most well-supported districts need the best available financial expertise. As head of an underwriting desk, I have a unique expertise. I have helped hundreds of school districts sell bonds that raised funds for needed capital improvements, and am continuously engaged in political, legal and market issues that affect school district finance.

As the father of an LP 1st-grader and two younger children who will be district students, I am eager to help the District find lasting funding solutions that will provide teachers and students with needed resources as efficiently as possible for taxpayers and supporters. With those solutions in place, District staff can devote full attention to the most important objective: providing our students with the best possible education.

As the son of a teacher and letter carrier, I credit any personal success to parenting and education and will bring those values to the board. I have a B.S. in Mathematics from Wheaton College (IL) and welcome your questions at parks2c@gmail.com.
