Candidate: Director - Feather River Recreation and Park District
The Feather River Recreation and Park District is a unique and diverse park district that encompasses over 700 square miles. As a resident of Oroville for forty years, I have been so fortunate to enjoy the use of the District parks, river trail, pools and tennis courts for recreational activities. My three children, as well, have been very involved with basketball, baseball, soccer and competitive gymnastics.

Having served on several local committies and boards, I have learned the value of listening carefully and objectively to all opinions on any given issue, and of facilitating collaboration and cooperation. I will bring these same values and skills to the FRRPD Board and will make common sense decisions that are in the best interest of our community.

Fiscal responsibility and accountability is a must and I have gained invaluable experience serving on the following boards and committees:

  • Director - Vice President, Oroville Area Chamber Commerce - 4 year term

  • Director - Oroville Association of Realtors - 4 year term

  • Director - Oroville YMCA - 4 year term

  • Member - FRRPD Benefit Assessment District Oversight Committee - 4 year term

  • Various local school committees and PTA

Attending the monthly FRRPD meetings over the past year has afforded me the opportunity to learn about the District, the many facets of its operation and four million dollar budget. This past year I was appointed as a member of the FRRPD Benefit Assessment District Oversight Committee. One purpose of the Oversight Committee is to review the Benefit Assessment District Budget and make recommendations related to the use of Assessment District funds. I am proud to say that this year our Oversight Committee unanimously recommended that the tax assessment not be increased. The FRRPD Board agreed with our recommendation and did not raise the tax assessment.

The FRRPD is a vital part of our community and must be managed properly in order to maintain, preserve and create future recreational programs and opportunities for all ages. As a realtor, I enjoy the positive comments from clients new to our area when showing them the Feather River flowing past our beautiful Riverbend Park and soccer fields. Such natural beauty and our many recreational opportunities make our community a special place to live.

It would be an honor to serve as a Director on the Feather River Recreation and Park District Board. Your vote would be very much appreciated.
