Dublin Priorities and my Experience

By Doreen Wehrenberg

Candidate for Council Member; City of Dublin

This information is provided by the candidate
I lived in Dublin for the past 21 years. I have been married for 33 years and have two grown children that graduated from the Dublin Public Schools.

The past eight years I have been leading the Planning Commission making recommendations to City Council on land use decisions. I am very proud of my accomplishments of building quality sustainable housing. We have a great variety of housing types and concepts that connect to shopping, restaurants, businesses and public parks, open space, hiking and biking trails. With my leadership, the planning commission has updated specific plans for the downtown area as well as adopting the green building ordinance. I support conservation of natural resources, increasing energy efficiency, and promoting healthier environments.

My Planning Commission experience and leadership as well as my business skills of managing large complex medical office construction projects provide the skill set to be a productive City Council member. The City has grown successfully and on the right track. I give credit to City staff, current and previous council members and mayors leading the process. I intend to work with staff to attract new businesses and maintain its fiscal and environmental responsibilities and prepare for our full build out to 60,000 residents. We have so much opportunity in the City of Dublin and fortunate to have excellent staff and City Council making good economic decisions. I want to continue working with the West Dublin Specific Plan to bring an identity to our Downtown area. I also want to work on the Camp Parks Development as well as see completion of the Emerald Glen Park and Fallon Sports Park. We have The Green at Parkplace an outdoor retail shopping center, Grafton Plaza and the Promenade to build out. These are all opportunities to maintain and enhance tax revenues and continue to meet our economic feasibility.

I want to continue to offer high levels of police and fire services to our residents. I want to collaborate with our neighboring cities to reduce traffic, work on transportation issues, and connect trails and bike paths. I also would work with our schools and support the Youth Advisory committee to keep our young citizens involved. I ask for your support on November 6 to vote for me as your next City Council Representative. Thank you!
