Smart Voter Full Biography for Richard Valle

Candidate for
Supervisor; County of Alameda; Supervisorial District 2

This information is provided by the candidate

I was unanimously appointed by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to serve following my predecessor's resignation, an honor I accepted to restore accountability, service and integrity to this office. As a life-long resident of Alameda County and former Vice Mayor of Union City, nothing is more important to me than listening to your concerns, being accessible and serving your needs as your County Supervisor.

I'm the founder of California's largest nonprofit recycling organization, creating hundreds of jobs for local youth and the South County workforce. As a War Veteran, I understand the unique challenges that many of us face in difficult times and the healthcare, job training, and multi-generational family services we need. I have a proven track record of strong fiscal management, job creation, supporting our youth, economy, and healthcare needs. I'm continuing the fight to save St. Rose Hospital and make our communities safer!

I have also served on the following boards:

  • Union City Council, Councimember - 12 years
  • St. Rose Hospital, Board Member - 8 years
  • Teamsters Health and Welfare, Board Member - 7 years
  • Chabot College Foundation, Board Member - 2 years
  • Tri-CED Community Recycling, President/CEO - 33 years
  • Alameda County Recycling Board, Board Member - 2 years
  • Association of Bay Area Governments, Executive Board Member - 2012
  • Alameda County Transportation Commission - 2012
  • Alameda County + Oakland Community Action Partnership, Administering Board - 2012
