Implementing A New Vision for Fremont

Over the last 18 months, the Fremont City Council has engaged with Fremont residents in the general plan process to share ideas about our vision for Fremont in the next 20 years. Together, we must implement this vision to make it a reality, so we can make Fremont the best place in the Bay Area for families to live, work, and play. Drawing upon my extensive experience as a planner, I will work with the community to implement a vision for Fremont that provides for high quality jobs, increased transportation and housing options, and more retail, restaurants, and recreational areas.

Economic Development + Promoting Fremont as the Best Place for Businesses to Thrive

In order for Fremont to attract well-paying jobs, we must establish Fremont as the best place in the Bay Area for emerging industries to grow. By promoting Fremont as a regional hub for green technology, we will create vibrant, long-term economic growth for our community. We have made a great start with the addition of green technology businesses such as Solaria and Solyndra. In addition, we have to continue to work with existing businesses. The Fremont City Council is integral to creating partnerships with local business to ensure that Fremont can attract and retain high quality jobs for its residents. As your councilmember, I will continue to work hard to support local businesses and promote economic growth.

Infrastructure + Sustainable Transportation for Fremont

Our City recently broke ground in building the BART extension to Warm Springs--a project that, after decades of planning, is now underway. As your Councilmember, I will continue to work to increase the transportation choices available to Fremont residents and to reduce the number of miles traveled between work and home. As an experienced planner and a representative of Fremont on various regional boards, I have the know-how to ensure that Fremont residents are getting optimal use from our infrastructure and to see that taxpayer money is being used wisely.

Open Space and Recreation + Keeping Fremont Green

Fremont is a diverse community, and our open spaces must serve all of Fremont's residents. Parks should be safe places for children to play and adults to enjoy. During my time on the city council, we've acquired over 115 acres of parkland for our city and completed Always Dream Park. On the City Council, I will continue to make sure that all residents benefit from Fremont's open spaces.

Community Engagement + Principled Leadership for Fremont

I firmly believe that Fremont is strengthened when people of the community come together and discuss ideas and issues impacting our neighborhoods. During the general plan process, we had dozens of public meetings and heard from thousands of residents about their vision for the future of Fremont. It is this kind of community engagement that makes a great city even better. As your City Councilmember, I will continue to reach out to the community, making sure your voices are heard in the decision-making process and that the community's interests, not those of the special interests, are served on the city council.

Public Safety + Making Fremont Safe and Secure for Children and Families

Fremont neighborhoods are the best places to raise a family--and we must keep it this way. The city of Fremont has not escaped the impact of the recession, but we have managed through sound fiscal management to avoid the depth of the cuts to public safety that other municipalities have had to endure. Ensuring the safety of our community is paramount, and as your councilmember, I will continue to see to it that the debilitating cuts to vital programs and services affecting neighboring cities does not happen here.
