I was educated in schools in both Oakland and San Francisco, studied Literature at Georgia State University, and earned my Bachelor's degree in Communication from Santa Clara University.

My passion for education began when, at the age of 16, I worked as a teaching assistant at the Aim High Summer program. Aim High is dedicated to preparing middle-school aged children from low-income communities for success in high school and beyond. I worked at Aim High every Summer from 1992 until 2003, and did every job from teacher to master teacher and finally site director. When I finished my study at Santa Clara in 1999, and while still a Summer employee at Aim High, I began teaching English at Lick-Wilmerding High School in San Francisco. During my time at Lick, I taught Composition as well as Shakespeare and Film and Southern Literature; I was also honored to be a part of the school's admissions committee.

In 2004, I made the difficult decision to leave the classroom to pursue my life long dream: a career in advertising and marketing. That year, with some good fortune and hard work, I established Morgan Media Group, a brand development and marketing company based in San Francisco. And I've been doing creative ever since!

Nonetheless, I have stayed active in education issues and my passion has not subsided. For the last eight years, I have served on the Board of Aim High. I was also a founding board member of Great Oakland Public Schools, a local organization that connects and activates the community to advocate for quality public schools across our city.
