Born with a passion for helping others, Denisha DeLane has committed her life and work to serving her community and making a difference.

Raised in a family with deep roots throughout the Southwest Berkeley community, Denisha attended Oxford Elementary, and later followed in her fathers footsteps by also attending Longfellow Elementary, MLK Jr. High School (formerly Garfield), and graduating from Berkeley High School.

As a grassroots organizer, Denisha has more than 15 years of experience with community organizations and non-profit groups, including the creation of local ecumenical networks, building community partnerships, and developing community involvement strategies. She is a former member of the NAACP National Board of Directors, where she served on the Education, and Criminal Justice committees.

After working at a West Berkeley nonprofit, helping to reduce the digital divide in marginalized communities - Denisha went on to serve her neighborhood as a Legislative Aide to Former Councilmember Margaret Breland.

Denisha currently works to support the HIV/AIDS Ministry of Allen Temple Baptist Church through creative strategies to increase awareness, testing opportunities, and reduce stigma throughout the Bay Area. Prior to her work at Allen Temple, she served the Making Connections Oakland Initiative, a program of the Annie E. Casey Foundation. In that position, she worked with residents throughout Oakland's San Antonio District to create listening campaigns focused on financial literacy, early childhood education and community benefit needs.
