Constituents Communication Plan

By Johnny M. Tacherra

Candidate for United States Representative; District 16

This information is provided by the candidate
Constituents Communication Plan A major problem with our government system today is that constituents have no idea what their representatives are doing. There is a barrier between Congressmen and the people they represent, which unfortunately leads to a sense of elitism and virtually eliminates the accountability that representatives should have with their constituents.

Wouldn't you like to be made aware of the relevant issues and bills coming before Congress without having to work so hard to find this information on your own? Wouldn't you like to know what bills are being voted on in Congress, how they will affect you, and how your Congressman votes? Do you really have the time or energy to dig that information out yourself?

Well, I have a specific Constituents Communications Plan that I will implement once elected to Congress that will leverage modern technology to stay in contact with all of my constituents throughout my entire term in public office (and not just when it comes to election time). Yes, other elected officials have email subscription lists and blogs, but that is not enough. These tools are typically used at random and the content is mostly self-serving. My Constituents Communications Plan consists of the following:

  • Internet Technology will be utilized for those who have internet access. I will maintain a website that is updated with monthly videos that explain what is happening in congress and why I voted how I did. Subscribed constituents will be notified via email or text message every month when this video has been posted. This video will highlight the major bills that were voted on in Congress that month. I will always tell you exactly how I voted, and I will explain why I cast my vote that way. You will always know what I am doing in Congress. Any other important events within Congress will be described, and I will also utilize podcasts and maintain a blog when useful and necessary.
  • Email updates and text message updates will be utilized for subscribers, and subscribers will have their privacy protected. The contact information (emails and cell numbers) will never be released to another party.
  • For constituents without internet technology, quarterly reports will be created and mailed to the homes of those who request it (to keep printing and postage expenses down). Of course, the report will also be available as a PDF download from our website.
