Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Julio Perez

Candidate for
Member of the State Assembly; District 69

This information is provided by the candidate

We need an Assemblymember who fights for our interests, not a career politician who represents the big special interests. I've always fought on the side of middle class families and have worked effectively to create good jobs and make health care more affordable. In Sacramento, I'll lead the fight to end cuts to education and close tax loopholes to ensure the wealthy and big corporations pay their fair share, so we can invest in the middle class.

Growing up, I watched my father rise before dawn every morning to go to work, while I helped my mother babysit the neighbors' children in our apartment in the shadow of Disneyland. My parents taught me the value of hard work and I learned how access to opportunity changes lives.

I worked my way through school, graduating from UC Irvine and earning a master's degree in public policy from the University of Michigan. Since then I've represented the interests of working people and today I lead an organization of 23,000 men and women with good jobs providing benefits and family-supporting wages. Serving on Orange County's Workforce Investment Board, I'm working to help small businesses and help jobseekers access the training they need.

I'm honored to be supported by California's Teachers, nurses, local workers, California Young Democrats, and leaders like State Senator Joe Dunn and Insurance Commissioner Dave Jones.

Send me to the Assembly and I'll do what I've always done: fight for good jobs, affordable health care, and an education system worthy of our children.
