The Issues

By Matt Mendoza

Candidate for Member of the State Assembly; District 79

Where Matt stands on the Issues...
Jobs

Matt Mendoza will get government out of the way so we can get Californians working again. By cutting taxes, repealing regulations, balancing our budget and expanding domestic energy production, California can create new jobs. Sacramento must lower business taxes to attract companies to come back to California and prevent other companies from leaving to other states that have much lower business taxes and less frustrating regulations. If we can be business friendly, we will get the companies and therefore produce new jobs!

Fiscal Responsibility

California is broken. Matt Mendoza knows it will require taking on big government in three areas, overtaxing, overspending and over regulation. The solution is easy!!!! Every house hold knows that you should not spend more than you bring in. Our leaders in Sacramento obviously don't know this. As Californians we must push for an annual balance budget.

Border Security

As a proud American, Matt Mendoza believes we must pursue peace through strength and provide the resources to maintain the tightest security for our borders. Equally important, he will protect the California homeland by forcing Washington to fulfill its constitutional duty of enforcing the laws we already have.

As we turn on the nightly news, we see the drug cartels committing unspeakable crimes to the people just a few miles from San Diego. And soon, it will be knocking on our door. Drug dealers are digging tunnels between Mexico and California to traffic drugs and to smuggle illegal aliens. Time will tell on how many terrorist have already walked across the border waiting to get the go ahead to act. It is now we need a tough leader in office to fight for Californians, and to put a stop to this. Matt Mendoza is the one who can accomplish the task.

Ronald Reagan once said; "A country without borders is not a country"

Education

"The philosophy of the school room in one generation will be the philosophy of the government of the next"........ Abraham Lincoln

We need to get back to basics in education. We are graduating kids from high school that can't read their own diplomas.

The fundamentals of education, reading, writing, arithmetic and phonics must be driven home to our kids.

Matt recommends proficiency testing for teachers to ensure that they're at the level they should be. Also students should be tested annually in order to be passed to the next grade level.

Matt will also find out where your tax dollars are going. California taxpayers have spent more last year on education than any other year in history. In the past several years' youth violence has been on the rise. Kids are killing kids with no end in sight. We need to instill in our children respect for one another and begin each day with a moment of silence in respect of the flag and the men and women who died or where wounded for our freedoms.

Life

Matt Mendoza believes in the sanctity of life and wishes America would take the high road on this matter. But as a nation we find ourselves aborting One and a half million unborn babies a year. We call ourselves a civilized society, but 70% of all abortions are out of convenience. Who will be the voice for the unborn? Matt believes in life at conception and a constitutional right to life.

"For good laws may lack good men, but good men may never lack good laws, nor allow bad ones." William Penn 1681
