Bring Congress Home to Work

By Bruce Margolin

Candidate for United States Representative; District 33

This information is provided by the candidate
At the very center of my platform, is a smart, high tech solution to a very serious problem that plagues our Congress. The problem of lobbyist's and special interest's influence over our elected officials in Washington D.C... A problem, which makes solving all other problems a losing battle, together, we can change that.

Bring Congress Home to work is a telecommuting solution for our times; one which I believe would produce the kind of shift we need to balance our political system.

We can use the same technology that billion dollar corporations use to hold global conferences from around the world, to keep our elected officials out of the tainted culture of Washington D.C., and at home. Our congress people will work from their offices in their home districts away from the cesspool of corrupting influences that abound in the nation's capitol, and under the watchful eyes of their own constituents. We can tech integrate the congressional process by way of a Federal Congressional Teleconferencing Network, which will create a much more transparent system of governing by representation, with built in mechanisms allowing for better oversight from the voters in their home districts.

By keeping our Congress spread out from Anchorage to Key West, each in their own districts for most of each session, we can balance the influence of the voters at home with that of big industries and special interests which have outweighed our interests for far too long, resulting in the current imbalance.

By eliminating costly necessities like transportation and housing for congress members away from home, telecommunication would save districts large amounts of capital and resources which would far out-weigh the initial costs of setting up a Federal Congressional Teleconferencing Network.
