Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Mike Hudson

Candidate for
Member of the State Assembly; District 11

Smaller Government. In California, we need to talk about the scope and role of Government. What do we want the government to achieve, how much can we afford? and at what level do we want Government to deliver vital community services? I believe that the best Government is locally controlled and that government needs to have a limited role in our lives

Lower Taxes. California has the highest tax rates in America. So high that we are driving business and investment out of the state. Worse, California always seems to need more tax money. We need to reduce taxes and regulation (regulation is a tax also) on business if we want to have a healthy economy. It does not matter how high tax rate is, we will receive none of the revenue if we drive all of the businesses and jobs out of the State.

Greater Freedom. Greater freedom means allowing people to manage their own affairs, keeping limited government out or our personal lives and out of our businesses. We have had enough of Nanny state laws that dictate how we wash our cars, what a hot dog is, or whether we use paper or plastic. The Freedom is ours, Government rules and oversight remove our freedom and erode our Constitutional Rights.

State Budget. We must balance the budget, on time, every time.

Economy. California must act now to save our businesses and jobs. We need to reward hard work, innovation, and investment. We need to create a stable business environment that allows businesses to start-up, invest, grow, expand, and hire Californians.
