Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Pat Garcia

Candidate for
United States Representative; District 46

This information is provided by the candidate

Limited government

  • A government in which anything more than minimal governmental intervention in personal liberties and in the economy is generally disallowed by law, usually in a written Constitution. The theory of limited government contrasts, for example, with the idea that government should intervene to promote equality and opportunity through regulation of property and wealth redistribution.

Free Market

  • ...is a market in which there is no economic intervention and regulation by the state, except to enforce private contracts and the ownership of property. It is the opposite of a controlled market, in which the state directly regulates how goods, services and labor may be used, priced, or distributed, rather than relying on the mechanism of private ownership. Advocates of a free market traditionally consider the term to imply that the means of production is under private, not state control as well.

Individual Freedoms

  • Individual Freedom is one of the most precious things that we have here in the United States; at least it used to be. With the plethora of more and more Centralized government control, more and more social programs we are one at a time, losing our individual Freedoms, as our Government trades our freedoms for the illusion of security. Even selling lemon-aid on the sidewalk of our neighborhoods, probably the last vestige of free enterprise left has come under Government scrutiny.

Traditional American Values

  • The United States doesn't start wars -- it finishes them.
  • Ultimate power in the United States resides with the American people.
  • All Americans are entitled to "liberty and justice for all."
  • All Americans should be afforded equal opportunities to succeed.
  • Marriage, family and commitment.
  • Fairness and competition.
  • We are accountable for and must face the consequences of our actions.
  • Freedom of Religion
  • To those who cite the first amendment as reason for excluding God from more and more of our institutions and everyday life, may I just say: The first amendment of the Constitution was not written to protect the people of this country from religious values; it was written to protect religious values from government tyranny. + Ronald Reagan

Strong National Defense

  • Bring our troops home
  • Maintain a strong robust Military for the National Defense of our Nation
