Independent, Intelligent, Experienced, and Principled Action for San Mateo County's Residents

The County's challenges mirror what I have faced as a Mayor and a Council Member in East Palo Alto, a city that is a microcosm of the County. Healthcare, mental health, public safety, emergency shelter, and affordable housing are just part of the safety net of social services the County provides to our most fragile residents.

Soon, almost 30% of our property taxes will go to the County. These dollars are spread thin, funding for example, the courts, the criminal justice system, the County hospital and 15,680 acres of public parks. As a County, we must collectively make the tough choices, balanced decisions, and select sound budget options that will benefit all of our residents. As your Supervisor I promise to confront these difficult discussions and decisions and to bring a myriad of your voices into these essential policy and budget debates.

With over 30 years working professionally and politically with people of differing viewpoints on the thorniest of issues, I have the dedication, experience, and new perspectives to collaboratively find the right solutions that will work in the 21st century.
