Too often Government Impacts Citizens as Enforcers, Not as EnablersFor more than 45 years I have worked to improve the City of Stockton, San Joaquin County and the South Stockton Community. If I am elected as first district Supervisor, I believe that position will allow me to institute changes that open the process so that government "by the people" is a reality. Too often, county government impacts citizens as enforcers, not as enablers. Yet the very foundation of our government is to secure rights to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." It is not the purpose of county government to secure itself in secluded offices and glass fronted edifices. Representation must meet us where we are in our homes and streets as well as public assemblies. Transportation, health, recreation and public safety are not separate divisions but inter-related services. I will work to coordinate them and seek innovation in their delivery. Improving economic activity will require research and development of new products and services. I will work with University of California, U.O.P. and San Joaquin Delta College to initiate new product manufacturing in this area. |
