VOTE FOR THE CANDIDATE WHO HAS SERVED WITH DISTINCTION FOR 20 YEARS IN MULTIPLE ROLES IN THE COURT: JUDICIAL, CRIMINAL PROSECUTOR, CIVIL ATTORNEY AND CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY.

FOUR YEARS OF JUDICIAL EXPERIENCE

In May of 2008, Commissioner Roberts was selected, over hundreds of other applicants, by San Diego Superior Court Judges to serve as a San Diego Superior Court Commissioner. Since being sworn into office, she has heard thousands of civil and criminal cases in her courtroom, including felony marijuana possession matters, domestic violence cases and drunk driving cases. She is known for being tough, but fair. Commissioner Roberts is a member of the California Judges Association, the San Diego County Judges Association and the National Association of Women Judges.

TEACHER OF JUDGES, COMMISSIONERS AND PRO TEM JUDGES

In recognition of her considerable expertise, in 2011 Commissioner Roberts was selected to teach substantive and procedural issues for Traffic Trials to new Judges and Commissioners throughout the state. She was recently invited back to teach this course again in June of 2012. Additionally, for the past 3 1/2 years, she has taught Bench Conduct and Demeanor to Pro Tem Judges on behalf of the San Diego Superior Court, where she has received outstanding remarks.

OVER 16 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS A PROSECUTOR, CIVIL AND CRIMINAL DEFENSE ATTORNEY

Commissioner Roberts served as a Deputy District Attorney for seven years, prosecuting a variety of crimes, including home robberies, mayhem, attempted murder, multiple life term rape cases and sexually violent predator matters. She has held the hands of victims of unspeakable crimes from the filing of the case to the sentencing hearing. In 2006, she successfully prosecuted a door to door salesman who forced his way into a young woman's home and raped her multiple times. As a result of Ms. Roberts' hard work, the jury convicted the defendant of all rape charges and he was sentenced to 80 years to life. In 2008, she prosecuted a cold case from 1997 involving the rape of a 12 year old girl on her way to school. The defendant was convicted of kidnap and rape and sentenced to 25 years to life.

While a Deputy District Attorney, she was awarded the San Diego County Bar's highly coveted Outstanding Service by a Public Attorney Award given for a Combination of Excellence in the Practice of Law with Service to the Community, the Profession, the Association or Legal Education.

Ms. Roberts began her career in San Diego as a Deputy Public Defender. While serving in this role for 3 years, she represented individuals charged with various crimes, individuals with drug and alcohol addictions and individuals with mental illnesses. She also spent time as a civil attorney, where she tried civil jury trials and litigated complex business arbitration matters. She also managed her own law firm for over seven years and represented clients in contract disputes, personal injury matters and criminal defense matters.

FAMILY

Commissioner Roberts is 47 years old and has been married to her best friend, Greg Roberts, for almost 16 years. They are active in their church and have been blessed with two healthy, beautiful daughters who keep them busy with softball games, cheer, karate practices and other school events.
