K-12 education is fundamental for success. This success must show in the classrooms of today, and the workplaces of tomorrow. Our District needs experienced leadership, as the East County and inland North County communities continue to grow and greater expectations are placed upon our teachers, parents, and students.

I believe the Governor and the Legislators should not balance the budget on the backs of our children.

The County Board of Education should be the catalyst for ensuring the State of California and our own local school districts find realistic alternatives to the current crisis that:

  • Do not cut teaching jobs
  • Do not cut school support personnel
  • Do not make our students lower their expectations for the future

California, as a separate economy, would rank in the top 10 nations of the world. That is something for which we should be proud. At the same time, compared to other states, California's ranking as per pupil spending is aproximately 47 out of the 50 states. That is something that must change, or that great economy we have will certainly fail.

However, it will not change by firing teachers, increasing class size, privatization of public schools, eliminating early childhood education, and reducing health aides and nurses in the schools.

It will change when we make the commitment that our children are worth the investment in the future of California

With 19 years experience as a college instructor, my experience will balance the needs of the students, teachers, and staff to ensure a dynamic learning, instructional, and service environment for our children. Working together, we can make the San Diego County educational process a model for the state and the nation and one in which all our communities will take pride.
