Smart Voter Official Statement for Ash Kalra

Candidate for
Council Member; City of San Jose; Council District 2

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

Occupation: Incumbent
Age: 40
Education and Qualifications:

It has been my privilege and honor to represent you as your City Councilmember for the past four years. We've accomplished a great deal but much more needs to be done.

Stabilizing our city budget has been my top priority. Tough choices have been made to trim costs including very painful cuts, especially to police and fire services. I support pension reform that is legal and collaborative with those who are impacted. Thankfully, our local economy is growing again which will help the city's bottom line. During the next four years, my priority will be to restore public safety services in the most cost efficient and effective manner possible.

Yet, even with budget restrictions, we have accomplished much. Examples include: Monterey Highway repaved. A Blossom Hill pedestrian overpass added. Creating a neighborhood leadership council. Ensuring that the Metcalf monitoring station is installed this year. Preserving our anti-graffiti program. Protecting senior services and programs.

I am proud to have the support of hundreds of community residents teachers, firefighters, small business owners, parents, police officers and neighbors. I respectfully ask for your vote to continue fighting to preserve, protect and improve our neighborhoods. For more information, visit http://www.ashkalra.com.
