Judicial Priorities

By Paul Colin

Candidate for Judge - Superior Court; County of Santa Clara; Office 5

This information is provided by the candidate
As a judge, I would strive to create a courtroom where all parties have the opportunity to be heard and seek justice under the law.

It is my experience that when people are listened to and treated respectfully and fairly, they will essentially accept the result even if they do not get what they thought they wanted. Of course, this will not always end the dispute; people will continue to pursue their interests. But conflicts do not need the added difficulty of one side believing that the deck is stacked against them. As a judge, I will strive to act in a way that each advocate, each party, each involved person, knows that in my court they have an honest chance to be respectfully heard, and that the rules of the law and our community will be applied fairly to one and all.

In addition, my county's bench has long been a trend-setter for expanding the services and efficacy of our courts, such as the drug treatment and mental health courts noted above. As a judge, I would be dedicated to be a contributing part of such new ideas and programs.

I would serve wherever the leadership of the bench needs me the most. I would perform any judicial assignment with enthusiasm and dedication.

Thank you for considering me.

Paul Colin
