Education and Qualifications:

"Chris Cobey's experience and skill in criminal and civil law, and widespread service to the community, would make him an outstanding Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge." Retired 28-year Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Kevin Murphy (former Presiding Judge, Court's Criminal Division).

Chris was a two-county criminal prosecutor of cases ranging from DUIs to child molestation to murder. In civil practice, he has represented individuals, employee organizations, small and large businesses, and employees and employers. He has personally tried more than 60 state and federal jury and court trials.

Chris has served as a Temporary Judge and judicial arbitrator appointed by our Court, mediator, SJSU, Mission College and UCSC Extension lecturer, and law school instructor. He has had the highest rating from the premier lawyers' rating service for over 25 years, and was named a Northern California "Super Lawyer."

As a Court Appointed Special Advocate, Chris for years has represented disadvantaged youth in juvenile court. He served as a two-term city councilmember and mayor. Chris was graduated from Stanford University and UC Davis law school.
