Why a Judge can't make political promises.

By Gary B. Tranbarger

Candidate for Judge of the Superior Court; County of Riverside; Office 12

This information is provided by the candidate
political promises and judging don't mix
Every person that comes before me must have confidence that I have not prejudged their case in any way. They must have confidence that I will listen fully to what they have to present and that I will base my decision solely on the facts presented to me in open court and on the law.

Therefore, I cannot promise any voter that I will rule in a certain way on any future case. I can promise, however, that I will treat every person that comes before me with dignity, and that I will not let any outside influence (including politics) affect my decision making in any way.

If a courtroom is to be a place of justice, it must be a place where political power has no influence.
