I was born in New York City and moved to Southern California as a young boy. Politics and ethics were standard dinner conversation growing up, and I'm very proud of the values our parents instilled in their sons. These values, centering on human dignity coupled with an unwavering belief in economic and social justice for all have shaped my political philosophy and ethics to this very moment.

I've worked campaigns from RFK to Obama with multiple state as well as multiple state and local campaigns " from the ground up". My 34 years of experience as a teacher have sharply honed my belief in the human value of each individual and have also made me unwaveringly pro-labor as I have seen California teachers, my colleagues, constantly having to "do more with less".

I know how to fight for people, as a vision loss as a young man turned me into someone who neede to fight for his own earning power and independence. I'm married to Sara Sutton and am the proud father of a blended family of five sons, ranging in age from 15 to 27.
