A look at Orange County's school rankings in Area One
How do elementary schools in the Orange County Department of Education's Area One rank as compared to those found in other school districts in Orange County?

Area One includes schools in Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Santa Ana and part of Tustin. According to the O.C. Register, this is how the elementary schools in those cities are currently ranked:

  • Fountain Valley is ranked #2 by the O.C. Register; they are ranked #2 in the Academic Rank; and $10 in the Environment Rank. Their API score is 913.14.
  • Tustin Unified is ranked #8 by the O.C. Register; #11 in the Academic Rank; and #6 in the Environment Rank. Their API score is 860.18
  • Santa Ana Unified is ranked #19 by the O.C. Register; #14 in the Academic Rank; and #23 in the Environment Rank. Their API score is 796.71.
  • Garden Grove Unified is ranked #20 by the O.C. Register; #18 in the Academic Rank; and #18 in the Environment Rank. Their API score is 831.8.

Tustin, Garden Grove, and Fountain Valley's middle schools were all ranked in the top twelve in Orange County. Santa Ana's middle schools were ranked #18 in Orange County.

Santa Ana's High Schools came in almost last in the O.C. Register's rankings. Tustin's and Garden Grove's High Schools were ranked #10 and 11 by the O.C. Register.

While some school districts in Area One are excelling there are still plenty of opportunities to improve schools in Area One.
