Heidi Shink is a community leader and political activist with more than twenty years advocating for LGBT and women's rights. As an early member of ACT UP, she has volunteered for almost every local and national Democratic campaign since the mid-1980s. She is currently a Commissioner for Human Services in the City of West Hollywood; liaison to the city's Women's Advisory Board; an Advocacy Board member for the National Council of Jewish Women; Vice-Chair of Outreach for the Stonewall Democrats; a member of the West Hollywood/Beverly Hills Democratic Club; a Board member of the Victory Fund's Campaign Board; and a member of the California Lesbian Project. A well-respected organizer, Ms. Shink moderates "SHE," West Hollywood's Lesbian Discussion Group, plays an active role in supporting many senior citizen's causes, and is a tireless advocate for the State of Israel. She was asked to sit as a panelist for the 2012 Women's Leadership Conference and received a commendation in 2011 from the City of West Hollywood for her efforts on behalf of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition to her political life, Ms. Shink has had an eclectic career in the entertainment industry. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from New York University, she landed a record deal with her band, Ceremony. As co-lead singer, along with Chaz Bono, she performed for audiences around the world. After a decade with the band, Ms. Shink became a Senior Producer at the E! Entertainment Network. She then launched Cher.com, which under her guidance became one of the most profitable celebrity e-commerce sites on the web. In 2006, Ms. Shink turned her talents to writing, and co-authored the critically acclaimed health book, 3 Minutes to a Pain-Free Life (Simon & Schuster). Her latest publication is the non-fiction wine book, Wineocology (Globe Pequot Press) on the shelves Fall 2012.
