With the state of the economy in California as it is, the Governor continues to balance the budget on the back of schools. We face a $370.00 deferment per ADA(average daily attendance) plus loss of transportation money if the November ballot measure does not pass. If the measure passes it will protect schools from a loss of funding, but no new money will be recieved. With this dire funding projection, I will continue to protect educational programs that are working and support music, the arts and sports.

We need to offer the best education for all students. I feel that the excellence in education that has produced many adults that are lifelong learners needs to continue. Students that excell need to be challenged. Students with special education needs must be served and if needed, given and individual education plan. The students in the middle that must be given attention to grow and not allowed to fall through the cracks. Parents of children attending our district should be excited about me being elected to the Board because I am involved int the district, attend functions at school and am accessible. I am commited, aware of the time required for serving on this Board and will amke informed decisions after investigating and listing to all information.

The biggest challenge facing the Fortuna Elementary School District will be trying to blend the two districts. As a board member my responsibility will be to make the best working conditions for the employees and allow the School District to stay solvent. The board is responsible for insuring the best education for the students, a balanced budget, keeping their reserve at an amount the allows adequate cash flow.
