Transportation

By Mike D. Hays

Candidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 26; Democratic Party

This information is provided by the candidate
Our state ranks high in its number of deficient bridges. While Harrisburg struggles to fund our roads, a strong transportation network can attract quality employers.
A robust and safe transportation network can attract new companies to Pennsylvania. Last year, an advisory commission recommended several ways to boost transportation funding by $2 billion annually.

Fuel-efficient cars have contributed to lower collections of the gasoline tax - a key revenue source for roads. If elected, I will:

  • Call on House members to pass key portions of the Transportation Advisory Commission, including higher fees for drivers' licenses.
  • Work with the federal government to boost mass transit projects in key corridors. This will contribute to less vehicle congestion in the long run.
