Job and the Economy

By Joe Eisenhauer

Candidate for State Representative; Pennsylvania State House of Representatives; District 102; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
The creation of an atmosphere that allows job creators to hire and the stabilization of our economy is my highest priority. What role does the government play in support of these objectives? Getting out of the way.

I have a plan to create an environment in which existing businesses can flourish, new businesses can be incubated, and to which out of state businesses will be drawn. This environment is created through tax abatement programs, streamlining the permit and regulatory process for new construction and rehabilitation, reductions in corporate tax rates and cleaning up the Pennsylvania corporate tax code, and eliminating the prevailing wage in Pennsylvania.

In my professional life, I have witnessed firsthand the competitive nature of attracting businesses and economic development among the various states within the mid-Atlantic region and beyond.

Pennsylvania is not competitive enough.

Through my plan, I am committed to:

  • Modify existing economic development programs in the Commonwealth to make them revenue neutral and performance based, saving the taxpayers money and eliminating the need to borrow.
  • Reform the corporate tax code to reduce the costs and difficulties of doing business in Pennsylvania.
  • Eliminate layers of red tape that have long stymied development and progress for no other reason that the continuation of the bureaucratic machine.
  • Strip away the opportunity killing impact of Philadelphia-based prevailing wage requirements on public improvement projects.
  • Create an environment that cultivates mortgage-paying jobs in the Lebanon Valley.

The bottom line: "jobs" is the answer to every question. More Pennsylvanians at work means less demand on public assistance. More Pennsylvanians at work means more taxable income. More taxable income means balanced budgets. Balanced budgets mean tax rate reductions. Tax rate reductions mean more money in your pocket.

I have a plan to initiate economy stabilizing improvements on Day One. Together, let's make Pennsylvania and the Lebanon Valley a better place to work, hire, and do business.
