A graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a 33-year resident of the 39th Legislative District, Shauna D'Alessandro is a Certified Public Accountant, consulting for over 33 years in the areas of tax preparation and planning. She is a member of both the American Institute of CPAs and the Pennsylvania Institute of CPAs. Locally, she serves as Treasurer and a Director of the West Jefferson Hills Chamber of Commerce, promoting economic development and business-to-business collaboration within the local business community. She chaired the West Jefferson Hills Local Tax Study Commission and was appointed to a term on the Jefferson Hills Economic Development Commission.

Elected to the West Jefferson Hills School District Board of Directors in 2003 (Allegheny County), D'Alessandro currently serves as the Board's Vice-President. She served as President of the School Board in 2007, 2008, and 2011 and Vice-President in 2006, 2009, 2010, and 2012. D'Alessandro was selected to serve as Chair of the District's Finance Committee, where in that role: tax millage rates currently rank 11th lowest of the 43 districts in Allegheny County; balanced budgets are maintained consistently each year with no deficit spending; the district's quality public schools attract homeowners and enhance residents' property values; and alternative sources of funding for new initiatives are pursued and successfully obtained for the benefit of community taxpayers.

D'Alessandro was selected to serve a second term as Vice-President of the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, which offers leading-edge, high quality, cost-effective services to learners, with the vision of enriching their lives and enabling their contribution to a vibrant economy. A member of the AIU Board since 2007, she was elected by school directors from the 42 suburban public school districts comprising Allegheny County. She was additionally selected by school directors of Allegheny County to represent them as a member of the Board of the Pennsylvania School Boards Association, a statewide organization which serves school leaders and education stakeholders, where she has provided her professional expertise since 2008 as a member of its Audit Committee. She is one of a very few school directors in PA who have earned Master School Board Member Certification.

D'Alessandro has provided testimony before the State Board of Education, the PA House and Senate Education Committees, and the PA Independent Regulatory Review Commission. She is Vice-President of the West Jefferson Hills School District Foundation for Education and a past-President of the South Hills Area School Districts Association (SHASDA), where she represented 22 school districts in both Washington and Allegheny Counties, including the school districts of Peters Township, Canon McMillan, Ringgold, Elizabeth Forward, West Jefferson Hills, and South Park.

In 2010, D'Alessandro was nominated by the Governor and approved by the PA Senate as a member of the PA Professional Standards and Practices Commission, the disciplinary body that sets standards of conduct for professional educators in PA public schools. She is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh Class XXVI (2010), whose members are encouraged to practice courageous leadership by tackling complex policy issues, building bridges of understanding, and having the courage to take unpopular stands on issues in order to bring about positive change in our region.

D'Alessandro is married and the parent of three adult children. She is a member of St. Thomas a Becket Roman Catholic Church in Jefferson Hills, PA.
