Sustainability

By Meghan Sahli-Wells

Candidate for Member, City Council; City of Culver City

This information is provided by the candidate
Reduce pollution and energy use, and encourage sustainable development and transportation systems.
Culver City is facing a number of pressing environmental issues, which can be successfully addressed if City leaders use readily available measures to promote sustainable land, water, and energy use. Culver City has the tools and technologies to protect sensitive habitats, conserve resources, decrease pollution and energy use, and encourage transportation systems that minimize their impact on the environment. What is necessary is the political will to employ these means and measures. My commitment to sustainability is a cornerstone of my campaign. I am Vice-Chair of Culver City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee; I sit on the Steering Committee of Transition Culver City, a group that advocates sustainable approaches and polices; and I a member of the Fiesta La Ballona Committee Green Team, working to decrease the environmental impact of one of the largest events held in Culver City each year.
