Streamline document recordings through secured electronic web filings.

By Wayne Coates

Candidate for Recorder; County of Hamilton; Democratic Party

E-recording is definitely a win-win for Hamilton County taxpayers.
One major production and time management problem is the additional handling and processing of documents that are received in the mail or by couriers from around the country which have incorrect filing fees, so the documents have to be sent back for the proper fees. This is an additional burden to Hamilton County taxpayers who have to foot the costs of postage and handing to return the documents.

Utilizing electronic recording or E-recordings of documents streamlines the process and minimizes the number of people handling documents. It also increases recorder staff efficiency and reduces operational costs associated with a paper-based workflow. E-recording enhances tracking through transaction activity logs, date and time stamping, and protects data and funds from theft, loss, or intrusion through the use of a secure internet network similar to the banking industry. Additionally, the Hamilton County Recorder's Office personnel do not have to scan, cashier and index E-recorded documents; only verify them. And, all the costs associated with E-recordings are absorbed by the transmitter, not the county taxpayers.

E-recording is definitely a win-win for Hamilton County taxpayers.
