Retention of Judge; Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas; District 5

Judge Todd was appointed to the Court of Common Pleas in June of 2001 by then Governor Tom Ridge. He was elected to a full term in November 2001. Judge Todd first served in the Family Division hearing both adult and juvenile matters. He presided over custody, equitable distribution, support, protection from abuse, delinquency, and adoption cases. While he was in the Family Division, he occasionally served in the Civil Division hearing jury trials and sitting as Motions Judge. Since April of 2005, Judge Todd has been assigned to the Criminal Division. During this time, he has presided over thousands of criminal cases. He has presided over jury trials, non-jury trials, suppression matters, and plea agreements. He has served as the supervising judge of the Allegheny County Grand Jury.
