EXPERIENCE

Christine Fizzano Cannon has received the highest rating of "Well Qualified" for the position of Judge of the Court of Common Pleas from the Delaware County Bar Association.

A Delaware County attorney since 1994, Fizzano Cannon has concentrated her practice in the areas of general business and commercial matters, including acquisitions, financing, leasing, business formation, operations and governance, structuring and negotiating transactions, business litigation and contract enforcement. Her practice also focuses on municipal and municipal authority law, land use planning, and estate planning and administration. She was a partner in the Delaware County office of a large law firm and currently operates her own practice. In addition to her 17 years in private practice, Fizzano Cannon has served as an Assistant County Solicitor and as a Special Prosecutor of Child Support Enforcement in Delaware County.

Fizzano Cannon was selected in 2004, by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Disciplinary Board to serve a 6 year term on a Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board Hearing Committee to conduct evidentiary hearings and issue written legal opinions in cases concerning Pennsylvania attorneys charged with alleged misconduct. She previously served on the Governor's Judicial Advisory Committee to review credentials of prospective Court of Common Pleas judge candidates and to make recommendations to the Governor with regard to qualifications.

Fizzano Cannon is currently serving her second two-year term on the Board of Directors of the Delaware County Bar Association (she served previously in 2002 and 2003) and is the Chairman of the County Council/Bar Association Committee, having previously served as the Chairman of the Sole Practitioners and Small Firms Committee.

She was named a "Rising Star Super Lawyer" by Law & Politics Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Christine Fizzano Cannon has been actively involved with Delaware County community organizations. She served as a Commissioner on the Delaware County Women's Commission, which advocates for women and women's issues in Delaware County, and as a member of the Board of Directors of Riddle Memorial Hospital. She previously served on Tyler Arboretum's Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Riddle Healthcare Foundation.

Fizzano Cannon served on Middletown Township Council as Council-at-Large, for 8 years, and served as the Council's Vice Chairman before her election to County Council in 2007. Among her accomplishments on Council, she:

1) preserved the historically and environmentally significant 46.2 acre "Mineral Hill" property in Middletown Township, which will become Delaware County's 12th park, without expending County tax dollars;

2) founded the County's Energy and Environmental Advisory Board that establishes goals and policies for increasing energy efficiency, conserving natural resources and saving tax dollars; and spearheaded the creation of the County's new "Green Pages," an Internet resource for energy and environmental related developments, information and programs;

3) spearheaded obtaining nearly $3.7 million in federal energy efficiency grant funds that will be used for an extensive solar project on the County Government Center, an energy audit, energy efficiency improvements at the County prison, and a municipal grant program.

Christine Fizzano Cannon's strong record on environmental, public safety and job creation initiatives has led to her endorsements by the Sierra Club of Southeastern Pennsylvania, the Delaware County and Chester City Fraternal Orders of Police and the Building Trades Council of Delaware County.

BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION

Christine Fizzano Cannon is a lifelong resident of Delaware County with deep roots and history in the County. She resides in Middletown Township with her husband, Mark. Fizzano Cannon's family has operated their business, Fizzano Brothers Concrete Products, in Ridley Township since 1935. Her husband's business, Giles J. Cannon, Inc., a masonry contracting company, is located in Collingdale, and his family has operated businesses in Delaware County since the 1930s.

Raised in Ridley Park, Fizzano Cannon is a graduate of Ridley High School where she was a member of Ridley's Hi-Q team in 1985, 1986 and 1987. For her long history of community service and for being a role model for today's Hi-Q academic quiz competitors, she was inducted into the Delco Hi-Q Hall of Honor in 2010. Fizzano Cannon is a graduate of the University of Arizona and graduated with honors from Widener University School of Law, where she served as the Articles Editor of the Law Review.
