League Question: What steps can the controller's office take to ensure the wise, effective, and efficient use of government funds?

By Chelsa Wagner

Candidate for County Controller; County of Allegheny

This information is provided by the candidate
ANSWER: The Controller is the taxpayers' top watchdog and advocate. It is the Controller's primary responsibility to ensure County Government not only operates effectively and efficiently, but also equitably and responsibly. As Controller, I intend to root out waste, fraud, and abuse, while ensuring that the County's departments, agencies, and authorities are putting taxpayers first. I plan to accomplish this by increasing the volume and visibility of performance audits, increasing transparency and openness through improvements in technology, and looking for innovative ways to improve the overall fiscal operations of the County
